Before we start, let's talk about what preselling actually is. There are two components to it - art & science. It's a process of taking your reader and getting them ready to buy. Then when they're ready, refer them to the product website so they can buy it. And if it's done properly, the process is completely sub-conscious. In a nutshell, you provide value. And give them a link to the product you're preselling. We'll get into how to do it correctly in a minute. Before we get into that, you should understand what's in it for you. Here are a few benefits of preselling: Preselling creates trust - Once you have your readers' trust, they will click your links more readily. And the more clicks you get the more sales you'll make. It takes your reader out of defense mode - Nobody likes to be sold something. By not doing that to them, your reader is less defensive. This means they are more open to what you're saying. So your content get absorbed. It preps them to buy - Now they're open to hearing what you're telling them. And in turn, they're open to other messages, as well. Like the info on product sales page you've linked to. And being open to the information there means they are much more likely to buy. Your commissions go up - They arrive at the product website prepped to buy. With the guard down and trusting your recommendation. The only possible result is more sales! It increases customer satisfaction - Your referral now feels like they decided to buy. Instead of being manipulated into buying. And this leads to greater satisfaction with the product. Preselling increases your bottom line - A satisfied customer doesn't ask for a refund. And that translates to more commission staying in your affiliate business. The need to presell is clear. You earn more commissions. Your customers are happier. That's a clear win-win. How does it work? You've learned the importance of preselling. And I hope you're resolved to being preselling, too. You're ready to learn how to do it properly. As I mentioned earlier, it's both an art and a science. Part 1 - The art of it First, you have to gain the trust of your reader, so they let their guard down. Honestly, the only way to do this is to provide real value in you content. Now, providing enough info to be useful, but still making them want more - that's the art of it. The idea is that they want more and the sales page you send them to gives them more. And because you've gained trust, they’re more receptive to the sales message and more likely to buy. It's also a science There's also a specific formula you need to follow. One of these key elements is the presentation of the information. You need to know where you're going before you begin. Your end goal is to make a sale of the product you're preselling. There are two ways to accomplish this with great content. The first method is to provide enough info to get them started, but not enough to finish. The other method is to explain all the details and expose how difficult it is to do what you're explaining. In either case, the product you're referring them to solves the problem for them. You also have to link to the product you're promoting discretely. You have directly to the home page of the product. When you do this, you're click-throughs go way up. But, without your affiliate link, how do you get credit? Well, that’s part of the science of this whole process. You "pre-cookie" your reader before sending them to the sales page. The next trick is to hyperlink specific words and phrases inside the content of the article you’re providing. People are used to clicking on hyperlinked words to get information they’re looking for. Plus, if you link on relevant words, it only makes sense to click on there. Putting all of this together creates a powerful affiliate marketing formula for success. Now for the bad news... This process is not easy – at all! Let's talk about everything required to put this plan into action: Good content. The entire process depends on your being able to provide useful information to your readers. Which means you need to be both knowledgable on the subject and capable of writing a high-quality article. Preselling skills. First, you have to give good information. You also have to present the info in a way that provides real value. And still leave them wanting more. The other approach is to reveal a self-evident problem through the information. Choosing your products. Next, you’ve got to pick the right product to presell. Even if you can pull off writing and great article. All your efforts are wasted if you send your reader to the wrong sales letter. Techy stuff. One of the keys to this system is using "covert cookies" for the tracking. This is fairly simple – you use a 1 X 1 image and set the “source” to your affiliate link. (Just don't mess it up. Otherwise, you won't get credit for your sales.) Summary: Now you know exactly how to presell effectively. Preselling properly will boost your affiliate profits up to 500%! So, start now and develop preselling content for all your affiliate promotions. Please don’t be lazy.
